The Quest of Parcivalius and the new Romanticism.
He was born under the all seeing eye of Janus. The name that was given to him was Julius. Named after the Roman warlord from the glories past, his parents did everything to make sure he would follow in the tracks of his notorious namesake. He got everything his hart desired. He lived in a splendid villa, rustic situated in the secured zone within the city walls. There was no shortage of food and drink, and he got education from the best teachers. Julius was instructed in reading and writing, literature, military science and philosophy. And he knew how to use as well parésia as rhetorica. Even before he reached the age of seventeen he knew a lot about the classical- and the old world. He wrote poems and was not only been able to withstand himself in a duel fight, but also to win it.
But when the years went by a restless feeling came over Julius. It didn't matter how much he knew, he felt that the real world must be somewhere behind the secured zone. "How can you experience the real life when you are as protected as me?," he wandered. He instinctively knew that if he wanted to know more about the world, he should leave his house, his city and even his country. He must live a wandering life to experience it like he red it.
His decision was made. In all his veins he felt that he must be like an Enki, Prometheus or Toth, so he would be able to explore, create and understand his own reality. And what was, before he began his long journey, a good way of expressing that idea, than to identify himself with a famous predecessor. As soon as he said goodbye to his home, he walked through the city gate and changed his name into Parcivalius. A fusion of his name and that of another seeker. Parceval.
And because Parcivalius knew that time doesn't exist, he was be able to experience the subjects in history as where they today.

Thanks for taking the time.
Well, I do a lot of research, so I have a lot of subjects worked out regarding Parcivalius and his travels. (And growing in numbers….) But I also create my paintings by designing the trees and light, so sometimes the picture comes first, and then I have to consider where to put the subject while I’m painting the woods. Sometimes they come together, and sometimes I create the painting around the written subject…………
And it’s not an entire story I created for Parcivalius, they are just separate subjects on his travels to find knowledge…….
I hope that this answers your questions…….. Gr, Jan

you have a wonderful gallery and website.
May I ask, have you created an entire story of Parcivalius, or does the picture come first and then you connect it to Parcivalius' travels?
